To Read Christopher Hitchens

I realize that many of the Christopher Hitchens' writing involve idiomatic expressions, potentially influenced or integrated by 'British' English and American English - Here, I am only guessing without further academic observation. As a result, at the first time, readers like mine whose primary language is not English face an extreme slowness by searching his words on Google quite extensively and still stuck to decode the meaning in our own language to understand what he actually intends to say. Then, this strenuous effort has me realize the very essence of English learning after exhaustion it has caused. Should I start from the beginner's level in English where not just vocabularies but idioms in general are taught as well? But I have never encountered, before, the idioms used by Hitchens. Hence, it will bring me a worsening effect of reading Hitchens' writings much slower than just searching things on Google. I wish I had learned English much earlier so that this translation business does not take up too much time of my short life. At the same time, however, I do not regret but realize that I learn a lot as well in reading Korean news. But, it is just that recognition after reading Hitchens' that Christopher Hitchens knows a lot of things in depth, not just a shallow intellectual who only 'knows' things but not actually have experienced things in other parts of the world one often has not encountered before.
